چکیده

Peach (Prunus persica) is one of the representative climacteric fruits susceptible to environmental stresses, including microbial contamination. This article analyzed major findings from literature on pre- and post-harvest technologies for maintaining quality peach fruit figure out strengths limitations each treatment strategy. The key implication studies pre-harvest agents directly applied surface or supplemented as fertilizer was application a mixture regarding substances with diverse working mechanisms prevent excessive use agent. common objectives previous research treatments were not only improvement in harvested but also storability during long-term refrigeration due short lifespan peaches. In case treatments, efficacy considerably affected by various determinant factors (e.g., cultivar fruit, sort technologies, storage environments), thus operating conditions optimized described this article. Whereas, although combined categorized into principles (physical, chemical, biological approaches) has been adopted achieve synergistic effect, undesirable antagonistic effects (i.e., inhibition efficacies expectable singular treatments) reported highlight importance exploring adequate conditions.

Effect of Pre-Harvest Salicylic Acid and Iron Treatments on Postharvest Quality of Peach Fruits

Peach is a highly corrosive fruit with a short shelf life (less than 7 days at room temperature)susceptible to diseases, pathogens and physical damage. The storage or marketable life ofhorticultural crops can be extended by various treatments applied to them after and/or beforeharvesting. Fruits are usually treated with a range of materials [(e.g. salicylic acid (SA)] to...

Variations in antioxidant capacity of nectarine fruits (Prunus persica cv. red-gold) affected by harvest date

The influence of harvesting date on some physicochemical properties of nectarine (Prunus persica var. Red gold) fruit including fruit weight, pigment content, total carbohydrate, total phenol and antioxidant activity were studied. Fruits were harvested in four different stages; a) two weeks after fruit set, b) pit hardening, c) three weeks after pit hardening and 6 weeks after pit hardening. Re...

Glucitol dehydrogenase from peach (Prunus persica) fruits is regulated by thioredoxin h.

Glucitol (Gol) is a major photosynthetic product in plants from the Rosaceae family. Herein we report the molecular cloning, heterologous expression and characterization of Gol dehydrogenase (GolDHase, EC 1.1.1.14) from peach (Prunus persica) fruits. The recombinant enzyme showed kinetic parameters similar to those reported for orthologous enzymes purified from apple and pear fruits. The activi...

Metabolomics Approach to Studying Minimally Processed Peach (Prunus persica) Fruit

Fresh-cut fruit products for both retail and food service applications have increasingly appeared in the market place in recent years. Among different fruit types, peaches can be used and are highly appreciated as fresh-cut product although their commercial success is limited due to their short shelf-life and the quick onset of wounding-related physiological reactions. In this work we analyzed ...

Quality oriented fruit breeding: Peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch]

Promising new tools for peach fruit quality breeding have been revised in this work. These tools included fruit quality evaluation through physical, chemical and sensorial parameters and post-harvest storage evaluation. The development of a feasible method for an early testing of peach selections generated in breeding programs is also well described together with the discussion of the inheritan...
